Independence Day (August 15)


At midnight of 15th August 1947, India gained its independence from British rule. It was a very important day of celebration for India when British handed over the governance of India to the Indian leaders.

Jawaharlal Nehru was the first Prime Minister of India, unfurled the Indian tricolor on the ramparts the magnificent Red Fort, symbolically marking the end of the British colonial rule.
